Lisa was born and raised in central Texas. She graduated with her undergraduate degree from University of Texas San Antonio and went to work in California for 16 years. Upon returning to Texas, Lisa graduated with a Masters of Art degree in Professional Counseling from Texas State University. Her focus was in Marriage and Family therapy. She has been blessed with being married for 20+ years and has raised 2 children.
Lisa has worked in a variety of environments: schools, juvenile justice systems, and private practices.
She enjoys working with individuals and couples to help resolve issues, enhance communication skills, look at problems or blockages from a different perspective and move forward and thrive. She counsels children from the age of 7 and up. Common issues are bullying, transitions, sexual abuse, and family blending.
Lisa practices under the theories of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy. She works with the belief that clients can use their strengths to help them resolve many of life’s problems and transitions. “I believe that both can be useful in seeing quick results to most of life’s problems.”
Lisa is also certified in hypnotherapy and uses it to help clients see quick results in the areas of smoking cessation, weight loss, anxiety issues, and other positive changes to their lives.
