Professional Background
Dria graduated from The University of Georgia with her Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2012, with a focus in cognition. While there she had the opportunity to work in the Emotional Vulnerability Lab under Dr. Rheeda Walker, which fostered her love of clinical research and neuroscience informed therapy. After finishing her undergraduate studies Dria was accepted into Teach for America and spent the next several years teaching, first in Cleveland and then in New York City. Dria returned to graduate studies at Long Island University : Post and graduated with her Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling in 2017. Dria’s training has been diverse, with experience working in in-patient, out-patient, crisis, collegiate, and private practice. She has a passion for developing individualized and holistic treatments for each client as an individual: putting their specific needs, learning styles, and personality central in the growth process. Play therapy and trauma-informed care utilizing mindfulness-based and somatic therapies, such as therapeutic yoga and Reiki, have become cornerstones of her practice. For Dria, the goal is always healthy brain change that encourages a life of purpose and wellness. She is also a fierce and proud ally of her fellow LGBTQIA+ community members.
